Adobe Youth Voices

"As the workshops progressed through writing, planning, filming and finally editing stages, we saw students moving beyond showing and exposing problems toward looking for solutions. We feel privileged to have been part of the process."

FAQs

How do partners receive online training?
TakingITGlobal provides an 8-week e-course to 2 educators from each partner organization in their first year of participation. The training familiarizes educators with the Adobe Youth Voices philosophy and facilitates their exploration of software. By the end of the course, partners will feel equipped to deliver youth media programming to youth in their communities. Educators who continue their involvement over more than one cycle receive a variety of advanced training opportunities, both virtually and in person.
What kind of resources do partners receive?
Partners have access to a great deal of resources to support their development as youth media educators. The Adobe Youth Voices Community a is a great example of a resource that partners are invited to take advantage of. Partners are also invited to training & professional development webinars, sponsored to attend regional trainings and events, and given opportunities to get to know likeminded educators all over the world.
How is work exhibited?
Partners are encouraged to come up with innovative exhibition ideas. Community film festivals, publications, gallery showings, and blogs are only a few of the ways that partners have creatively exhibited youth media from their programs. TakingITGlobal provides exciting exhibition opportunities for partners to participate in. For more information, please see our Youth Media page.
What kind of software do partners receive?
All first year partners receive a software donation of Adobe Photoshop and Premier Elements. Returning partners are offered the possibility to upgrade to more advanced software where appropriate.
How much of a stipend do partners receive?
Most first time partners receive anywhere between 1,200-2,000 USD, though this amount varies. Partners will receive the largest stipend amount during their first year of involvement. The longer a partner is involved in the program, the less amount of stipend they will receive. The stipend is not meant to fully sustain the program. The purpose of the stipend is to support the program with the objective of creating a sustainable base that can continue being implemented beyond the funding period.
What is the stipend for?
The purpose of the stipend is to help support partners in settling a strong foundation for a sustainable, multi-year youth media program. Many partners use their stipends to purchase equipment such as cameras, tripods, microphones, and computers. Some partners use the stipend to upgrade existing equipment (i.e. purchasing a larger hard drive for a computer). The stipend is not to be absorbed by overhead costs, or costs unrelated to Adobe Youth Voices.
Do returning partners receive the same amount of stipend every year they participate?
No.

Does your organization work with youth aged 13 - 18? Do you have a passion for youth development? Are you looking to integrate creative digital media programming into your work?

Join us in engaging youth all over the world with the tools and training to express themselves creatively!

How does the program work?

TakingITGlobal carefully selects partners that have a passion for increasing youth’s creative confidence and that have the capacity to integrate Adobe Youth Voices into their existing youth-focused programming.

Two individuals from each selected partner organization take on the role of program leaders. These two individuals are trained to be Adobe Youth Voices Educators. Educators can be teachers, youth workers, media experts, or simply people who are passionate about creativity, community development, and youth engagement.

TakingITGlobal provides Educators with 8 weeks of training. This training is delivered as an E-course that runs asynchronously and provides Educators with tools and resources to plan and execute a local youth media program. Educators are expected to facilitate youth’s critical exploration of key issues with the use of digital tools.

Once educators are equipped to deliver the program, they go on to integrate media programming into their work. Adobe Youth Voices Educators are key players in supporting young people to develop creative confidence through the production of high-quality multimedia projects.
